The brief for this project was to transform what was originally a 1960’s bungalow into a 21st century home that, whilst encompassing the latest technology, complemented a beautiful setting with panoramic views.
The exterior was upgraded with the decoration of stone mullion windows and double glazed bronze casements. Whilst this had a dramatic impact on the original house, Meister then proposed and were accepted, approval to change the two front hipped roofs to gable ends incorporating corbels, kneelers and parapet. With the addition of the entrance portico, the exterior transformation was completed using lime render. A new stone surround to swimming pool and paving was also created.
As project managers, we were responsible for the supply and fixing of the building throughout and installation of state-of-the-art bathrooms using Villeroy and Boch sanitary ware. All lighting, computers and plasma screens were installed into a central server-driven system with full integration throughout the house. The French refined limestone flooring with cabouchons incorporated electric underfloor heating.
The landscaping included new terracing, retaining walls to panoramic viewpoint. A new gated entrance and staff quarters complemented a most satisfactory transformation.
“An incredible transformation that exceeded our expectations.” – Mr McCarthy.
